Ripped from another site :

Admin: One of our districts is having trouble modifying a document from our website.
Graphic Designer: It can't be modified. It's a PDF.
Admin: Right. So I was wondering if you would turn off the PDF so they can make their changes.
Graphic Designer: ...Um, no.

I think you actually can annotate PDFs, but regardless, I still hate them. It sucks to try to copy/paste text from them.

Even with the $#YT#$T(Y$# tools to modify them they are a complete pain in the ass.

I hate pdfs.

Me: We'll need to access X data in order to graph it.
IT: What if we interpolated the data from Y data?
Me: But we already have X data, why wouldn't we use it?
IT: Well, I'm just trying to think of a way to simplify the application.
Me: How?
IT: Well, if we took all the Y values, and performed some math on them, we could derive X, and then display it on the graphs.
Me: But, how would you do that math?
IT: That would be hard math. Well, we'd could take the last Y value in the X timeframe.
Me: But then you could be off by as much as 10%!
IT: Well, we could take the middle value of Y in the timeframe, then use that as a proxy.
Me: But then you'd still be off 1.3% according to our analytics.
IT: Well, we could compensate for that.
Me: You know, we have a piece of data with 0.0% standard error and is completely accurate, why don't we use that?
IT: What data is that?
Me: X.

They're fine if :

1) I never, ever need to modify them again
2) I've got a copy somewhere in an editable format

Goddamn motherfucking crypto class INSISTS upon all assignments being submitted in a pdf format.

The problem is he has 20 years of IT experience, so he thinks he knows something. I have no idea where he used to work that his ego got so big, cuz I could take him out.

Maybe the same damn place I work. We got a customer support dude that's big into politics. He's got a lawyer or two & a professor of something or another at a generic college up here working on some case he thinks will somehow make it before the Supreme Court. He's said on more than one occasion, "It'll be the biggest political reform in the history of the U.S."

& yet everyone around here just kinda brushes it off. Mark my words, when his delusions of grandeur get shot down, he'll be going from office to office w\ a large calibre automatic weapon.
