Some stuff I read on the UOSA message board.

Para: You can not paralyze someone that is already frozen. So, if you try to para someone that is para'd, it says you can't. No big deal. HOWEVER!!! When casting a spell, you are "Frozen". So, para will not take then either. So, if they are casting heal, recall, ebolt, whatever, and you drop your para on them, it will not para them, and it will not disrupt the spell. So, time your para's. Make sure they are not casting when you drop it.

And there's something about people spamming the attack last hot key in razor and that disrupting people's casting. Having a katana does something too. We'll have to do some testing as I'm not sure what it does. It seems to disrupt casting, maybe makes the kat hit more/faster and is ruining duels cause you can run up to the other person, hold down the attack last key (which is spamming it) and cast greater heal and you will never die. So say the duelers.

I was getting hit with explosions on the run the other night, maybe. I saw the potions following me, but didn't notice if I was taking damage or not. That was the first and only time I saw someone using that technique.

Forge security:

What's the deal? Lock the front door? Open the bottom floor but block the stairs?

What up?

Security as far as. . .

Item/goods/equipment - It will not be stored in anything other than a secure container. Thus, can NOT be looted.

Training - If you are actively macroing, lock the front doors so that people can't come get you. Keys are in one of the chests on the right. Please unlock the doors when you are done though.

Locking the doors - I'd want this done as little as possible. If we do start warring and are getting hunted, making a quick escape into the tower will be needed from time to time.

Blocking stairs/rooms - Unfortunately, only the house owner can lock/release things. So, we could block the upstairs, but once you left, you can't get back in until the owner releases/locks the stuff again. So, it does provide security, but not convenience.

Locking upstairs rooms - This might be a good strategy. From what I have read, you can not be killed from Earthquake alone. So, standing in the middle of one of the rooms upstairs SHOULD provide enough security for macroing. We can have a secure container in each room that has the door key in it. Lock it, start training. Done, unlock it and leave. This leaves the front doors open at all times, but gives us a place to train. You can use the chest to hold training goods so you don't have to have them all on you while training. So, if the security isn't really secure (untested), it's not a total loss. We can persue this if wanted. I don't macro any more, so haven't had a need to look into it.

Does that answer your question?

Pretty much. Just keep the front doors unlocked at all times. Just lock those interior rooms. Secure chests/w the key. Need to get something figured out so I can put together my looting routine.

I call the lowest room possible, if not that back room on the ground floor. Make that bottom room the community reload room... our individual loot chests in there, the new armor/potion/etc chests, etc.

Can friends drop the trash can? Almost everyone is still using that old trick to secure their houses.

See this post for chest contents, etc

As far as individual loot chests. . . not sure we have enough secures for that. Or rooms in the tower for everyone to have their own room.

And don't know about trash barrels. Next time you are at The Forge, try chopping the current can with an axe and replacing it with "I wish to place a trash barrel here". Would be awesome if you can.

I don't care about secures, per se. I can lock down 3 chests and a key ring, right? That's all I need. That's all I used back in the day.

I remember things as Gordon is describing. I remember going in houses where an internal door would be locked, but not necessarily the front door.

I also think I remember a house who left their house key on their front step. It was locked down and secured so nobody could run off with it and it also didn't allow access to folks not friended to the house or something.

I know because I tried it. I used to do what Gordon is doing running around looting houses.

The house I looted the other day fixed their shit, heh. I was going back for a few hundred leather I realized I'd forgotten to steal.

A locked chest can pick picked by a locksmith. So, not secure at all. Secure chests are the ONLY secure storage in a house. You would have to block access to the locked chests with a locked door, or blocked door.

We use to have that wall of chests behind the forge counter with keys locked to the floor. But we also had tables and stuff locked down blocking access to the back area. Interior locked doors were added way after T2A, and really, shouldn't be on this server. But, I like them, so won't bring it up.

So, again, a lockable chest CAN be picked by a locksmith. Make sure the door leading to those chests is also locked.

Only the house owner can lock things down, and release them. So locking the keys to the floor will prevent everyone else from using them.

So is there a solution, or did they T2A all of the convenience out of the game? At this point we'll all just need our own houses, it seems.

Can I co-own the Forge? Would that fix anything? I don't care about having any other houses.

I've been scouting a location for new digs myself.

I'm not even fully into level 4s yet and I've got a pretty good gold stockpile already.

That prime vendor spot is pretty darn helpful, as well. How on earth did you guys get that anyway, it's l33t.

Which vendor spot? Did Ruth put another house on the Brit graveyard?

Not because of the gates, but because its a known hotspot for good vendors.

There are about 30 of them in a 3 screen radius around the gate.

A few, yeah, I got attacked once near there, but once I healed through his first dump, he turned around and ran off.

It's super close to the yew bank guard zone and the moongate guard zone....

Was fucking around in Brit Graveyard today.... nearly killed a random grey, but he ran into town and and I couldn't club the last little bit of life off of him.

Went back to see a bunch of random people watching a murderer and the guy I had fought a bit a ago, going at it with a bunch of healers all around, not sure who was healing who, but a few of them were grey.

I was deciding which one I wanted to kill when the murderer took a little bit of damage and then got poisoned. I had precast explosion so I dumped on him and charged with the Hammer.

SMACK... splat.

I then looted 1k of his gold of his corpse and ran off as some of the bystanders starting casting on me and hit my magic reflect.

I'm not huge on the "fair fights" thing.

She just scouts out spots, waits for them to fall, then grabs them. She's a GM house placer.

Also, a while back, they changed the house decay timer. Went from 3 months, to 1 month. Now it's down to 11 days or something. Anyway, every time they made that change, some houses would fall because people would log in once every three months, but once a month or week was too much. So, there was a decent land grab going on during those times.

And real estate has always been her thing. That's how we made our millions on GL back in the day. Hell, we even made thousands of real life money from houses. Our first purchase was an account with a tower, two forges, and three small houses. $600 on ebay. At the time, large towers were selling for about $1000 on ebay. We sold one forge and a small to make our $600 back. Then we sold other properties over the years. When Trammel opened up and there was that huge server crippling rush, we got a large marble and a cabin placed. That was awesome. People bitching about not being able to own a house for many months. Solution: Double the land mass. That land was filled within an hour of opening up. Sold the large marble for $600. The list went on. Not to mention ridable lamas. Yep. We sold ridable lamas on ebay. Got an email from a concerned citizen stating that lamas aren't meant to be ridden and you could hurt them. UO was awesome.

But anyway, ya, she's REALLY good at scoring prime house spots.
