He's a best selling author, according to him. I never verified.
Which is why when I watched it after midnight last night, I was assuming he wanted less negativity in his life and was going to live off his other money. Made sense to me.

Funny is subjective.
I think he can be funny. There are people who thought Jerry Lewis was hilarious. Some people thought Napoleon Dynamite was the height of comedy.
Mostly he needs to be accurate in what he's saying because his job is criticizing Hollywood. He isn't failing there despite not making you chortle.
