Spiderhead (2022)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Spiderhead (2022)

Post by Leisher »

Thor is a scientist in a very cushy future prison where prisoners get perks for being experimented on. Thor is trying to save the world outside from certain doom, and takes a keen interest in one particular prisoner, Miles Teller. But, this is a prison and everyone has secrets.

This is very much a character driven drama, but the story has gaping flaws. Hint: The opening scenes are completely negated by a villain's monologue towards the end of the film. Plus, the world that we're in is extremely shallow. Even with the few characters actually used in this movie, we don't get expected payoffs or delve into who they are very much at all aside from Teller and Hemsworth.

Teller is Teller solid, and the rest of the cast is fine, but Hemsworth steals the show. He's like a scaled down Nic Cage in this movie and it works.

The overall point of the story just feels so empty, and the way they have the drugs work is dumb (not their effects, but more how quickly people come off the effects).

Seeing Hemsworth and Teller is a film together is worth it, but damn I wish they were given a better script.
