Young Mothers

Post by Vince »

Kind of related to the abstinence discussion from elsewhere.

Score one for natural instincts being triggered I guess.
"Similar programmes are increasingly being offered in schools around the world, and evidence now suggests they do not have the desired long-term effect of reducing teenage pregnancy. These interventions are likely to be an ineffective use of public resources for pregnancy prevention."

It was my understanding that a half hour class by your 6th grade teacher was all it took to avoid unwanted pregnancies.

Wink.

Maybe the baby wasn't real enough? Did it cry every two hours, sometimes for no reason? Was it ever colicky? Did it puke every day? c'mon. We need to make having a baby SCARY.

You know, I was thinking about that last night and considered posting but didn't. I thought about the article I read about Utah and teenage pregnancy vs abstinence programs and it occurred to me that there is a huge difference between the accepted cultural norms of the Mormon society and a 30 minute class one day a week for 6 months or something. I'd expect to find something similar in Amish communities, but don't know that for sure.

You know what'd stop a lot of teenage pregnancies? Prescription-free birth control and Plan B pills, and the ubiquity of condoms in every school and pharmacy. I wonder what that cost is versus the net total of all the other shit that's been attempted.

And just like the "free needles" programs to keep junkies safe, offer free hotel rooms for anyone 10 and older so they have a safe place to fuck.

Most people aren't born with a tendency towards heroin use. Sex is biologically hardwired to activate during a time when your brain is badly equipped to deal with the modern consequences. They'll find places to fuck anyway, just like they do today. I find it idiotic to hold them accountable for giving in.

I'm not seeing the argument against my proposal.

Shit, I just read this part...
"They are extremely life-like," Brinkman said. "You have to change their [diapers]. You have to breast-feed them. They cry a lot, right through the night. They're programmed to act like a 6-week-old baby."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Programmed to act like a 6-week old? That's hilarious. I'd love to have a look at the code.
