Honestly if i'm gonna play an RTS i don't wanna play some old ass outdated one.

I completely agree. That being said, I think you'd find Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander, and Supreme Commander 2 very acceptable. TA came out in the late 90s or early 00s, and it's miles better than anything in the C&C series.

Seriously, I cannot stress enough that when it comes to the Annihilation series (which the SC games are a part of), you need to get the "dated" image out of your head.

I'd much rather be a part of a game that is growing and currently getting developed into something better (even if its not perfect as of yet) than play some game that no longer is getting updates and support. I guess thats what i really love about LOL so much, its always changing.

Well, don't go crazy here. LoL, at it's core, hasn't changed much at all.
They just trick you like a woman.

They add skins, champs, some items that are really the same as older ones, and tweak some stats, but at the end of the day, it's all the same.

A woman will dye her hair, get a make over, wear push up bras or spanks or not, get a boob job, wear glasses, learn some new tricks in bed, etc. However, she's still the same woman underneath. (Make this analogy a man if it helps you.)

I mean you could say that all games in any genre are really all the same. It boils down to the polish put on the games.

LoL's biggest weakness is the strength you see. Their constant development. They're stuck with the same engine and core game.

Meanwhile, games that get released, and then eventually lose support get two things:
1. The modder community (there's a mod for TA that turns it into Star Wars)
2. The development team can create a sequel or new game from scratch using new technologies, not just spray painting old an old one.

Anyway, I'm with you, and I get your point, but at the same time, I think you're giving LoL a little bit of undue credit.

I would buy PA right now, but I doubt anyone else will.

I'm already 80% sure I'm going to buy it within the next 24 hours. I think Stranger said he'd buy it, and read something about it being in really good shape in its current form. Anyone else who plays RTSs must think of this game as a must buy, so others will be joining us. As for Gordo, I think I might be into him for $37, which is $3 shy of the current price...

You just made my case for me! :D

I never said those games were bad, i even said i've read great things about them. Hell, S2 is only $5 i'll prolly pick that up..

If thats the RTS game we want to play then i would go for that. I was just saying that having the new game on the block might be a fun one to get into.

... Also, i've been reading on some forums that PA's release price will be $40, what its currently on sale for. Not the $20 that someone had said it would be. So if you plan on getting it, you've got nothing to lose.

I'm still holding out on PA, but I could be convinced, I think.

But there haven't been many.... Any? RTS games since supreme commander.

I understand why you have that opinion, but we've actually played them all over the last 15 years and we know what we're talking about. Nobody made an rts better than Chris Taylor.

Red Alert 2 was pretty badass.

But yeah, Chris Taylor is the king of RTS. He's apparently working on "Kings and Castles".

I'm now at 85% that I'm buying PA today. My rule has always been to support the games I really want, so I buy them at full price. Metro Last Light, GTA V, Borderlands 2, etc. So why not PA? It's not like we won't play the fuck out of it. Guaranteed even without multi, I'll go all the way through the campaign.

I'm now at 90%.

On a different topic, go look up King Arthur's Gold. It's on sale for a few more hours. 2D, but looks interesting.

Wanderlust looks like a 4 player coop Zelda and its $2 or 4 copies for $7.

Downloading SC2 now.

The Infinite Battle pack DLC is $1.99. So if you don't have it, grab it. It adds a bunch of maps, units, and upgrades.

A couple of interesting options out there today.

Interstellar Marines (Early Access game)

Hammerwatch (4 pack is only $10)

Forced looks promising.

Damned is Early Access, but at the right price could be fun. Looks like that's a 5 player game.

At this point, I'm leaning towards playing what we've bought so far, and picking up the next batch during the summer sale.

Do we have an actual list of games that we are for sure going to multi so that people can be sure to pick them up before the sales end? I know there have been a ton suggested, but what games are actually going to be played?

I think they are:

Supreme Commander 1 and 2 with expansions
Guns of Icarus
Dungeon Defenders
Age of Empires 2 (no expansions though)
Payday: The Heist
Planetary Annihilation
Rise of the Triad (I know this was just handed out. But didn't know if it was a go)
Civilization 5 (with some expansions)
Torchlight 2
King Arthur's Gold
Magicka
TA (not sure this is catching on, even though it SHOULD)
Contagion

Maybe a sticky thread can be created that is the official list of officially sanctioned games that have been officially sanctioned by the official sanctioning committee.

I've got that one! I've only ever played the AI, though. Not interested in playing board games against random internet people I don't know, generally, but I'd be happy to play against you sometime.

I would argue that we need to pick one RTS and go with it. I'm not interested in having AoEII, TA, SC, SC2, and PA all installed on my system at the same time.

I'd be ok with two if PA was one of those two, but I'm not keeping all RTS options installed.

I'll work on a sticky for the list.

Also, I really want to play some Payday.

But all of those RTSs are fun and deserve to be played.
