TV: The Amazing Race

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Flashback to last season:
The January 25 episode of THE AMAZING RACE was filmed in Sri Lanka a few months before a deadly tsunami struck the country.

Tonight's episode: New Orleans.

If you see this show coming to your town....RUN.

Heh.

So, after three episodes they haven't gone halfway across the country yet. There's only 11 episodes. Is this race just around the US, or are they going around the world and just want to knock off some teams first to save on travel costs?

Due to it being about families and so many small children in the race I highly doubt they'll be traveling to third world countries like they normally do.

Showing life in 3rd world countries is acceptable for (American) children, as long as there are no exposed boobies.

My wife loves the show and we've watched it every season.
This is easily the suckiest season ever. The bigger teams aren't as manueverable, the kids prevent extreme challenges, and people have to censor themselves around their kids. Yawn!

I think they haven't left the country *yet* for several reasons. It costs more money to fly the bigger teams. Airline seats where difficult enough to get when people only had two people (and they didn't have to make sure they got a seat next to their 8 year old daughter). Plus, two adults getting into trouble in a third-world country (flipping a car like last season, getting stranded due to a flat tire, etc.) is acceptable. Having a couple young kids with you when you get into the same sort of situation is reprehensible to American viewers.

I think they leave the counrty next episode, so I expect a trip to Canada, or if they're feeling really risky, perhaps a touristy part of Mexico.

When it whittles down a little more I expect a trip to Europe.

This season is okay, but it certainly doesn't have as much excitement as previous seasons. Even the fights suck, since it's just bitchy teenagers instead of total blowouts between partners.

Those sobbing kids drive me nuts. Especially that "pay attention to me because I'm miliking my father's death at a race track for all it's worth" chick.

Another warning about the Amazing Race: If you are in the race and you go to the state or city you live in, then you will be eliminated.
