What's a good brand, any more? Been a couple years since I was in the market.

Well, I know DDR is faster than SDRam. But brand name?

Well, I was gonna say with DDR, you're prolly more concerned with the specs like timing and CAS and wtf ever people have these days. Dual-channel, stuff like that.

I think I bought Rosewill for the last RAM I had

Ok. My new 512mb of Corsair memory only reads as 480MB in winxp, so I blame you.

Kingston is good too.

I've had bad experiences with Kingston.

Crucial is the only way to go if you want reliable memory.

You have integrated graphics, yes? Shared memory, perhaps? 32MB by any chance?

512 - 32 = 480

Yes... and I'm using the MB graphics instead of an AGP card (it's just a file server).

You think that's it?

I think I'll pull the 512MB stick out of my wife's computer, put it in the server, and see what happens.

I am 100% certain.

When you boot it next time, go to the BIOS, and you can probably change the amount of RAM used by the graphics.

Corsair is good ram, never had trouble with em. Lower CAS the better, try for at least CAS2, may be listed as CL2.

Hmm.

This is the first time I've had a mobo with an AGP port that I didn't use. Never been exposed to the integrated graphics stuff.
