Some buttons aren't working on the current one so it is getting replaced. Never put any thought into them before and figured I would ask around and see if there is a brand or a certain keyboard that you really like or stands out. Right now I think the only thing I really want it to be is an ergonomic one since I am use to it.
The same goes for the speakers. They don't need to be some sort of ultimate 7.1 HD sound system. I am currently using speaker that were new in 1994. Do you have a set that you really like or all they all just the same.
Anyone have a keyboard/speakers they really like?

I really want to get a Das Keyboard S Ultimate, but I can never bring myself to justify the expense.

I like my logitech, but have yet to use the programmable macro keys. I wouldn't miss them. I do like the LCD display though. I use it's clock and performance monitor. I've been seeing the G15 on sale for pretty low prices. So, if you could get it cheap enough, I'd buy that. But I wouldn't pay extra for it. I have not found that I have an advantage or play my games better since getting the keyboard. I gave it good reviews when I first got it because of all the stuff it could do. But, if you never use it. . .
Speakers: I've got an old set of 5.1 speakers that I've had for a long time. I'm glad I have a really good headset, instead of really good speakers. Given my gaming, where/when I game, etc, the headset works best.

I'm saving my pennies for the Logitech G19 keyboard with the actual color LCD screen built in that acts as a monitor. It also has its own power plug. Completely a luxury item, but what the hell. I spend enough time at the keyboard to justify it, as far as I'm concerned.

The last time I worked in a cubicle several years ago there was a NO HEADPHONES rule, and everyone elses typing/phone conversations/etc in the otherwise quiet office were a complete and total distraction to me. If there had been a quiet hum to the office that would be one thing, but it was so quiet that you easily heard the distinct keyboarding of the 5 people closest to you. Maddening. Fortunately it's not a shared space, just an office area where we usually leave the interconnecting doors open. If it gets too annoying they'll probably just make me close my office door.

At that place we had a security door into our room where maybe 50 programmers were sitting in a massive ice cube tray. One day the CIO came to visit our remote office and was banging on the door because his badge would not let him in but everyone was working with headphones and no one heard him. Headphones were banned. Then I started working there and didn't last long.
I really, really doubt NO ONE heard him knocking in a room full of 50 people in cubicles. Also too bad he didn't have a cell phone to call the manager in our space (he did).

I was at the peak of a disability I had, back then. Had recently lost the ability to walk unaided and was hobbling around on 2 quad canes and still falling a lot (I've gotten better since). But, like most programmers, I still liked my caffeine to keep the code flowing, but I had a hard time going to the breakroom coffee station with my mug and still navigating with a cane in each hand and still swiping a keycard through a security door. Not as easy as it sounds when you are lame. I asked if I could have a mini-coffee maker on my desk, and I was told to go fuck myself and was generally humiliated for asking.
