Ok, which is currently the more popular name for Tech/Computer departments?

IT or IS? (If it's IS, is it Information Systems or Services?)

I started my career in an IS deparment, moved to an IT department that started as IS and then became IS again before I left, and moved into an IT department that became an IS department. Now my former boss thinks we're Information Services, and I think that's crap.

I was always partial to IT.

I hear IS or ITS or MIS is trendy nowadays. It all seems like IT, Jr.

IS sounds like library science to me (ILS).

I prefer IT.

Heh... When I worked for Cleo, that department was MIS when I got there. Then others complained about how "old" that sounded. I think we became IT after that.

Eventually everything comes back into style (except disco, God willing). My new job is IT, though I think my group is netwrk services... or something.

I've never really cared. Doesn't change my job or responsibilities in the least. I'd be okay with GS (geek squad).

It all depends on what the HR person was taught in CIS 110 when they were getting their degree in basket weaving.

That's the category they put the network guys in... whatever their hippy college called it.
