So are there new levels of (whatever it is that eridium buys)?

Hmm, never checked. Let me doing some wiki'ing.

After checking ... nope. Although I think eridium is used for access to some of the Invincibles more than upgrades.

Even if they offered more upgrades, do you really run out of ammo? I'd buy the item and grenade upgrades, but that's it.

In other news, Jimmy Jenkins is apparently a bitch to find. If you head to the Wildlife Exploitation preserve, you'll find some spots where normal cardboard boxes and even stalker shit piles have loot boots. Jimmy Jenkins is a rare spawn loot bot. Rare enough that I've seen him maybe twice last playthrough and none this time. 4-5 loot bot spawns, 0 Jenkins.

I've not run out once. Then again, I tend to stop shooting things when they hit 75% health, and I do a lot of melee.

Turns out loot bots are just a subset of loot midgets that can spawn from the boxes as well. I get the feeling Jimmy's got a spawn rate no higher than 10%, even on the infamous Doctor's Orders mission.

Just to get to the boxes in the Wildlife Preserve requires bolting through half a dozen minor encounters, then having to duke it out with stalkers v. loaders v. you. After that, a super badass loader saunters forth to give battle. Once you get past that fucker, and some additional skags and stalkers inside, you've earned the right to 4 chances at a Jimmy Jenkins encounter. There is supposedly a better chance at Opportunity, but I'm going to try a few tips I got from the boards before completing the Doctor's Orders mission.

Finally getting some 45-47 level equipment. Making a huge-ass difference, especially the shock spike shield. I am puzzled at the way class artifacts are generated, though. I'm L50. I've got a blue L39 melee artifact that gives me +9 skills and +40% melee. I found a blue L43 artifact, identical in every way, except -1% melee damage. Wtf?

And seriously, my kingdom for a bladed/bayoneted gun.

Example of the new character's skills ... keep in mind he's supposed to be a variant of a psycho...
Fight For Your Life is replaced by Light the Fuse. During Light the Fuse you pull out a live bundle of dynamite and can move normally. The bundle explodes when the timer runs out. If you kill someone you are revived.

Getting a revive with the bundle explosion gives you +40% Movement Speed for the remainder of the time that was left in Light the Fuse.

Throw dynamite sticks with [Fire]. Detonate bundle by holding [Use].

Instead of lying on the ground bleeding, he gets to run around like the suicide psychos. If he gets a kill, then he's back up. I reiterate I still don't know why Gaige and Krieg couldn't have been saved for BL3.

Got my first Psycho class mod today. Weird, seeing as how his DLC doesn't even have a drop date.

EDIT: A-ha.

Skill tree. Trees:

1) Bloodlust

Focuses on ranged combat using a Bloodlust stack mechanic. Dealing damage to an enemy adds a stack of Bloodlust to a maximum of 100. Stacks decay after a few seconds if you haven’t dealt damage.

Interesting how they're doing these "stack" things for the DLC characters. Expect this shit in BL3 a lot.

2) Hellborn

Focuses on elemental effects, particularly setting oneself on fire.

You set yourself on fire, ult is the equivalent of an intrinsic fire spike shield on steroids that shoots homing fireballs at enemies. This works even at range to the tune of 1 ball per second.

3) Mania

Focuses on melee combat and Health/Fight For Your Life mechanics.

This tree looks evil as hell. You spend life with your shields down, but you're a complete, utter, total, pain in the ass bastard to kill. The ult makes you a melee tank. The melee bonuses in this tree are obscene, +10% on one tier, +50% on another, +100% on the ult. Middle skill turns FFYL into "run around like a screaming loon with dynamite" mode. On the flip side, you ARE vulnerable to friendly fire if you take a pretty much required skill here. Wonder how that plays with the Siren's "shooting = healing" skill. However, that's probably intentional because the damage is reduced. I suspect it's a way for your teammates to send you into berserk mode.

This dude is the closest to Brick from BL1, I believe.

Thoughts...

1) While the mission is active, I seem to get more robots than non-robots to spawn from the four boxes guaranteed to spawn a loot critter of some type. This is good, because Jimmy Jenkins is a robot.

2) Even with the pro-robot spawn bias, he's a rare bot. I revise my 10% to 5%.

Hmm, I think I figured out a solution to my Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage not giving me jackshit for guns problem.

The Death Race: Tier 3 looks repeatable. Moreover, I just checked a vid of a brutally simple cheat to make losing virtually impossible. You can farm tokens, 20 a time, but an inexhaustible supply apparently.

Using the afterburner relic, I can do it legit. Without the relic, I'd have to have 2 perfect laps, which hasn't happened yet. Came within a second a couple times, though. I can't believe I didn't think of the cheat before, either.

If you haven't been watching Twitter, the new expansion pack appears to be on it's way.

The "spokesperson" for this one is a psycho.
