Went back last night and went through the slaughterhouse. MUCH easier with smarter weapons (fire damage), a few more levels, and just knowing what to expect. I died once, fought for my life 2x.
I upgraded a Goliath to "hulking mass of destruction," which apparently isn't quite enough for the achievement. But that dude kicked some enemy ass.

Ooooo.. was going through my weapons this morning after last night's hours in the challenge... I got my first orange, and never even noticed it. I just kept looking at it this morning like "Why is this weapon $5k?"

Jimmy Jenkins appeared to my Mechromancer two times this weekend. Both times were in the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve. Once in an ammo chest near the docks, and the other in a box near Bloodwing's enclosure.
In fact, I've discovered there's a trick to the boxes near Bloodwing's enclosure. I've played through that section of the game multiple times now (I'm playing through with Axton, Gaige, and Zer0.) and each time I notice monsters hop out of those boxes. Although, one of the 4 boxes has an echo recorder or something in it. Don't grab that until after you've opened all 4 boxes.

If you check the wiki, it says we already completed the mission that you need to leave uncompleted to make Jimmy spawn. He's got other locations, though.

However, my mechromancer is right behind us in the story, so I don't know what mission would've been completed that stops him from spawning that she wouldn't have done...?

What are the odds of seeing Jimmy Jenkins? What mission can't you finish or he won't spawn? Stranger told me that seeing him is very rare, especially in solo and outside that one room?

He can spawn at a few different locales in Sanctuary. Wiki says 10% flat chance. I assume 10% chance to spawn, then he gets a location to spawn at. After that, there's a distribution for the blue (95%), purple (4%), and orange (0.5%) items from him.

He appears in Opportunity, the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve ... or the Hyperion base in Thousand Cuts.
Jimmy Jenkins is a mini-loader robot that's functionally a loot midget (one of those dudes that jumps out of boxes/chests occasionally). Loot midgets seem to have fixed containers that might spawn them. In other words, Jimmy's a tiny robot that, from time to time, will pop out of certain boxes in certain areas of certain maps.
He can be made to appear consistently in the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve so long as the mission Doctor's Orders has not been completed.
That's the one where you pick up slag samples for Tanis. We did that on our first run through.
EDIT: As a sidenote, only the dude that lands the killing shot on Jimmy makes any progress towards the achievement.

There's an update coming out today. The X-Box has already gotten it. PS3 and PC updates are expected later on.
