I've seen stuff before about how there's a way to design a speaker box that makes a small speaker sound better/louder than it does in a standard/stock speaker box. It involves having the sound travel through ports/tunnels/whatever that are based on the size of the speaker, frequencies, etc. The inside of the speaker box would resemble a maze type layout. Bose (and I'm sure many others) employs this technology in their speakers.
What is that technology/concept called? Trying to google it, but not knowing what it's called is making it impossible.

Best speakers I ever owned were a couple of cheap crappy mid-ranged speakers that I put (facing outwards) into the openings of a pair of huge fishbowls that had mouths just the right size for them to sit in. Strapped them on with duct tape. Got some really killer sounds out of those, especially on the low end.
