I am hoping someone here could help me with a little problem I have. I have Windows XP, and I need to make a file that is like private or needs a password to open it. Friends and family are sometimes on my computer and I may have some private videos and pics on here now that Id rather none of them accidently found. So anyone know if there is an easy way to do this? Thanks for the help. :D

I believe WinZip will let you create a zip file that requires a password to be unzipped.

(Not a ZIP explanation, but how to make files private from other users. Note, anyone logging in as you will see your files, still)

Open Windows Explorer (like, the My Computer icon)
Go to the Tools Menu, then Folder Options
Click View
At the very bottom, un-check "simple file sharing"
Click OK

Now, go to whatever directories you want private, and right-click on them.
Go to "Sharing and Security" (or, Properties)
Click the Security tab
Remove all users and groups that are not yourself.
Click Apply.

Other users cannot access those directories.
It's not me, it's someone else.

Put a password on your user name, and make sure you log out when you are done.

True. Just wish I could make a folder and put all of them in it and then put a password on it. But thanks for all your guys' help.

What? Answer her questions and not focus in on the important part?
