Cakedaddy posted a review of this film already, but its got a lot of spoilers in the chain. So, I thought I'd throw a new one up without spoilers.
Jamie Fox is a cab driver that picks up a contract killer, Tom Cruise, who needs transportation around the city from murder to murder.
Ok, I'll say the film is well acted, but that's about it.
Want to know why I get down on Hollywood screenwriters so much? This movie is Exhibit A.
The most realistic thing about this movie is that there are cab drivers in LA. Outside of that, I can't think of a single thing.
My first problem starts as soon as the movie begins. If you know that the sun will come up tomorrow, then you're probably smart enough to figure out how the movie will end within the first 5 minutes.
My second problem comes from the cops in the film. Could they be any less realistic? Apparently, law enforcement consultants must be really expensive and couldn't be fit into the budget for this film. Cops DO NOT act like this!!!
Another problem is that the whole idea behind the film is that Tom needs Jamie's expertise to get around the city quickly to fit his schedule. However, throughout the film, they have time to waste and Tom routinely directs Jamie on where to go. If he knows the streets so damn well, why does he need a cabbie?
The ending is simply crap. No other words to describe it.
I should also point out that the sound is pretty bad in the film. In particular, Jamie comes off as mumbling all of his lines.
I can't recommend this to anyone.
2 out of 10.
