Mass Affect
By the crew who made the first Knights of the Old Republic. I have not gotten to it yet because of the number of games I still have yet to play but it is one of my most anticipated. It is a bioware game which for me means it will kick ass. Just make sure to keep your save file because part 2 is a couple months away and you can continue your character.
Of course ea does publish bioware game so that may affect some peoples decision.

I played it on the Xbox 360. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the sequel coming next spring.
It's not as open a sandbox type environment that you'd be led to believe reading the description. Keep that in mind. Just run the quests and the side quests.
People often complain about some RPGs that are very linear in their play, but to be honest I'd rather play a linear well written story than a game like Oblivion. I just wasn't able to stick with that game. A well written story get get me pretty immersed where it just doesn't FEEL linear. And Bioware has always been good at that.
