Under Suspicion

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

I got this cause it had Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman in it. Too respectable actors. Plus, it had Persephony(sp? I know I butchered it) from Matrix. About halfway through, it occured to me that I'd seen it before. But, had no recollection of how it ended. Over all, it's not a bad movie. Kept my attention and stuff. But, I can see how it's also pretty forgettable. I liked the story, and what happened and stuff. It's just how they presented it, it was pretty unbelievable. However, to make it believable, it would have had to have been a longer movie. Or, maybe told from a different perspective over more days in the movie. I dunno. Good story, bad presentation. It didn't hurt to watch it, but, I'll probably forget it again. Won't hurt to watch it, but, don't go out of your way to get it either.

Two of the greatest actors ever and you've never heard of it? Why do you think that is? Because it sucked.

When I saw it on the shelves and saw who was in it, I was geeked. As I began watching the film, I realized it was most likely a "contract finisher" for both men.

Its the only movie I've ever seen with either guy where I thought they were phoning it in.

As you said it's a very forgettable film. Hell I've seen it at least twice all the way through, but damned if I can remember a thing that actually happened it in let alone the ending.

Freeman and Hackman were executive producers. Not sure if that changes the 'contract finisher' theory. But it opens a 'newbie producers' theory.

My main problem with it was the enormously huge coincidences that kept popping up.

It doesn't. Those titles could have been stipulated in the contract. Now I'm not saying that's what this film was, but it sure seemed like it.

I think Drowning Mona was the first film I ever saw that was confirmed to me as a contract finisher. Ever since then those types of films have become more obvious to me. Big stars, no budget, no director, mediocre story, and phoned in performances.
