Wow. I've seen Unreals played before, but never played them. They are having a free play weekend on Steam, so I gave it a try. I've only been playing for a couple hours, so can't say for sure. . . but so far, I'm having a lot of fun. I like Warfare the most so far. Capture points and hold and keep capturing across the battlefield until you destroy the enemy base. While trying various weapons, it immediately took me back to my Duke Nuke 'em days. Wide variety and some are pretty damn original. Some are really good close range, some good at long. Some good at close quarters/halls/rooms, etc. The vehicles are done well and some are very original.
I'm only playing with bots so far, and the game communicates things really well. Computer voice tells you when various nodes are under attack, and which one we should be attacking as a team.
If you like TF2, I'd highly recommend trying it this weekend. Haven't played enough, or against people, to know if it's a good buy yet. But, definately try it. Bot play has been fun and challenging, and I'm at about level 4 of 10 difficulty levels. They play well as a team and stuff.
Unreal tournament 3
Playing with real people is hard. . . They jump and strafe A LOT. Very much more of a spam ammo and respawn type game. Playing against the bots, I didn't feel that. Playing against people, it is.
I dunno. It might not be my game, but I'm betting some people here will like it a lot. I'm more of an Insurgency guy than Quake. The weapons are fun and so are the vehicles. But, spamming and respawning gets old.
