Michael Moore, a 2002 documentary winner for "Bowling for Columbine," missed out on nominations this time with his hit "Fahrenheit 9/11." Moore decided against entering "Fahrenheit 9/11" in the documentary category to boost its prospects for best-picture and other categories, but the film failed to earn any nominations.
Now honestly, do you think it would have been nominated if Kerry had won? I'm thinking yes.
Its serves Moore right since he shouldn't have won for Bowling for Columbine, which was anything but a documentary since most of it was fabricated.
Secondly, I heard about another film today called Brainwashing 101. Its a look at the disappearing freedom of speech on college campuses. Apparently its won some awards already and soon will be playing in more mainstream film festivals and such. The creator is really curious to see what kind of response it gets at the more liberally inclinded festivals.
The big news is that its getting the feature film treatment and should be coming out in Fall of 2005. This will be the liberals, Dems, and media's big chance to prove the rest of the country wrong by giving this film press and going to see it to show they have "open minds" (something they said people who wouldn't see F911 didn't have).
For now, if you're curious you can find more info and a 46 minute downloadable version of their early work
