So the water of the Colorado in the GC is silty, does that mean it can't be drank? Serious question. I mean, did they try to drink and they puked it up, or what? How does one die of thirst next to a fresh water river? I mean, that water is about 55 degrees... just getting in and cooing off will help you retain water you'd normally sweat out.

It's possible that they didn't have any purification methods.

Google tells me that the water is not drinkable, and is apparently not drinkable in some parts even after purification (wtf?)

When it comes to "drink this and stay alive or die," I pretty much have to go with "fuck purification."

Also, Randy's idea. But the silt is REALLY fine, and may not settle out at all? The water is pretty much opaque even a half an inch deep. From what I recall.

But still... there are other ways to keep from dehydrating in the GC. I'm pretty much going with USER ERROR without any more info.

These peeps appear to be drinking brown river water. But there isn't enough info for me that it is conclusive.
