Supreme Commander - post-release discussion.
Skirmished the CPU on hard tonight.
Basicaly T2 rushed him with a mix of Rhinos and Mobile Flack Guns, and rocked faces. Best part was as his commander ran up to the ongoing firefight to assist, I focused on him, and he retreated, only to die about midway through the base. Boom!
There were some enemy buildings left, so I built myself a few experimental units just to see what they looked like.
It was a small map, so even one experimental unit taxed te shit out of my economy, and I had pause construction to upgrade all the extractors for it to be realistically finished.
Was a fun game though. I want to play on an all water map, a pure naval + air slugmatch would be fun.

Started off on the Aeon missions...
Not a fan of that race, or maybe it was just the missions...
They seem to only have one unit that can do the job you want to do, which makes your armies kind of vanilla and boring.
In the third mission(or second?) I hit the unit cap, and any battles from then on were best viewed from way zoomed out, as my computer couldn't handle it.
Think I'll revisit the Cybrans, as I was having more fun with their units. Not going to touch Forged Alliance until late next week... with a new computer.

Just FYI: Forged Alliance is supposed to make SC run better on slower/older PCs.

I spent some time during the day yesterday studying essays on SupCOm tactics, and I played about 4 hours of skirmish way later than I intended, and then I saw Tech 4 experimental units behind my eyelids when I was trying to sleep.
I need to take a break from this game, already.
That being said, who's ready to multi?

Wednesday actually might not be realistic, as it requires me building the computer Wednesday afternoon after work... Vista loading, no RMAS, etc.GORDON wrote:Game on.
I'm usually available, weeknights, by 9pm at the latest. Possibly earlier, I'll let you know.
Make sure you can access the proprietary matchmaking service prior to game time. gpg net, or some such thing.
Best case scenario... I'll be on steam and therefore able to play.
Goddam, found a skirmish map where I can't even beat 2 medium AI allied against me. I've played it about 10 times, now. Going to have to un-ally them just to see wtf.
Bastards keep taking out my metal extractors, over and over and over.

Still taking my time through the campaign missions.
I'm doing them all on Hard as a Cybran, currently on the one where
SPOILER
Dastya Dies
Spoiler
Anyway, this mission on hard is particularly tough, because each time you complete an objective, a fuckload of shit hits your base, and often it's enough pain that you're forward units completing objectives can't get to you in time. My commander was double shielded and still got ramrodded by a Seraphim experimental sandwich.
I've got each highpoint with an artillery battery, Sam launchers, and a few bricks scattered around, and they still send like 3-5 seperate blobs of shielded siege tanks around each pass.
Gonna go back to my save and beef up my base even more.
