Funnier than I had expected. Needed some better pacing at point, maybe even a slightly better ending.
Not bad.

Wasn't bad. Tom Hanks is another actor I can't stand. It's not his acting that bugs me. It's his holier than thou bullshit babysitting attitude that bugs me. Fuck him, and the high horse he rode in on. But as far as the movie goes, it's not bad. Interesting story. Ummm. Some other stuff. Worth watching once. Zeta Jones is a tool too. But, it didn't hurt to watch her in the film. I have to work to get past my dislike of Tom Hanks to watch his movies any more. Despite those two being in it, it didn't hurt too much. So, you should watch it. If you want. Just do what I did. Remind yourself that Tom Hanks didn't go through that ordeal. . . some other real guy did. It helps you feel bad for him when he gets fucked with.

Good flick, indeed!
One note, though: this was, apparently, not based on that guy stuck in France at all. Maybe his story gave someone the idea, but this one was written from scratch. I went into this thinking it was based on that guy, and with all the Homeland Security crap they threw in and all the Iran situation of the real-life guy they ignored, I was getting a bit annoyed at what appeared to be anti-America preachiness. Once I learned that wasn't the case, I rather enjoyed it.

You didn't look hard enough.

I enjoyed this as well. Hanks doesn't bug me, and for some reason I thought Zeta Jones looked particularly hot in this film. Maybe its because she wasn't all done up and made to look more like a normal women.
I'm still trying to decide if the casting was a political statement of any sort.
