So Facebook itself isn't really a game, but does have an API and way to integrate apps/games into its platform.

I think it makes an interesting way for people to make more casual, web-based games. People are already registered on the site, and when people sign-up it's very easy for them to spread the word of the game to other people. Advertising, etc helps monetize the game.

I'm playing a couple of FB games now. If anyone's on FB, friend me and we can take a look. If not on FB, sign-up and friend me.

Added. I'll invite you to the game I'm playing tomorrow when I have more invites.

I wrote a macro that plays it for me while I sleep.

And more often the not the mistakes I made were with the 10-key. ;)

10-key skills.... the keypad to the right of the main keyboard. There are jobs for which a fast 10-key is required.

OK, Invite to Might of Many sent.

It's a medieval-set game, you fight people (stealing some of their gold), and build an empire by buying lots of land and structures.

You basically get XP/gold by doing quests. The first quest is the best rate of return for a long time in the game.

If you have FireFox, you can download iMacros add-on for Firefox (for free), and record yourself playing the first mission. Then, edit the macro and add the line "WAIT SECONDS=240" to the end of the macro.
(Macro names need ".iim" at the end)

Then, set that macro to run on a loop (I did 9999 times), and you'll gain gold and XP every 4 minutes. (You get stamina <which is used by doing things> every 4 minutes).

I haven't read up on the game too much, just playing around so far, but that macro's got me to level 8 within a day or so.

Note: when buying land, the farm/small manor combo is the most cost effective. For each unit of an item you own, it costs 10% of the base price more than the previous, so buy in sets of 10.

If people are taking too much of your gold, stash it in the vault. It taxes you 10%, but you'll lose more otherwise.

Spend points on either attack or defense. But the game doesn't seem well balanced. I spent a lot on defense, but still lose almost every time.

So... my friend who wrote the MoM game won't give too many details, but says the $ he makes is "enough to live off of" but has kept his day job for now.

He has 25,000 daily users.

Jesus Christ. I might start taking the homebrew game biz seriously again.

Yeah, if anyone wants to write a Pirates-themed game, with trade, crafting, city building, etc, let me know.

I figure the Pirates idea is easily accessible, so people could get into it without having to have a paradigm shift.

There are a few new tests styles I didn't see yesterday... I don't do well with a couple of them.

The "Simon" game... where you repeat the correct order... is easy until it does sushi. I don't know the types of sushi, so my brain cant internally repeat the types. I get 1 out of 5 if I am lucky, with sushi.

I also hate "insert the correct operation." No hotkeys.

Also not good at the balancing act, but I saw that one yesterday.

You know, when I say, "I'm not very good at that," I'm still scoring genius level... but still.

I beat my personal best, but not Catt's, yet............

Yet.
