I don't like it, if my internet connection goes down it already takes my phone and television with it. If my computer OS is online, too, what the hell would I do then? Read a book?

Ellison tried a thin terminal a couple of years ago. It went over like a turd in a punch bowl. However, shortly thereafter the whole grid computing craze started. It had a distributed filesystem over the entire internet so you couldn't lose data. Applications were online and the world knew peace in our time. It was also a great opportunity to create a new subscription software model.

Sounds like NCs w\ a massive network. They sucked back in the day.

I can see Google putting out some OS for dl designed to work extensively w\ the various Google apps distributed on the net. I bet they'll include offline alternatives as well.
