This is what remakes should be: Faithful to the original, adding little improvements here and there, and making the graphics much better.
Somehow this looks WAY better than the System Shock 2 remake. I'm really confused by the constant attempts to redo/remake/restart this series. I don't know which came when, who did it, etc. I do know I got this for free in a Humble Bundle and gave it a go.
Good game. FPS that has you as a hacker who accidentally releases SHODAN, a psychotic AI. You're aboard the citadel, a space station in deep space, but now heading to Earth. SHODAN wants to remake the human race and you need to stop her.
I won't detail the whole game. The things you need to know are:
-Inventory management is a real thing. So is ammo management. Use energy weapons whenever you can as they can be recharged. Then use your ammo based weapons in critical fights.
-The little consumables stack. Stacked berserk + sword + EMP = win.
-The cyberspace fights are a fun diversion from the main game and remind me of Descent.
-Can't access something? Ignore it for now. You'll go back and forth between the levels multiple times.
If you want a nostalgic romp remade with modern tech, this absolutely scratches that itch.
