I appreciate the experience. I plan to mostly use it for photo/video editing. I've got an Alienware laptop right now, and am kinda disappointed at its performance for those things. Would probably keep using both.
I've used an iPad Pro for years, and granted I don't do a ton, I'm a little familiar with how Apple does some things, the cmd button, etc.

I bought an Alienware desktop once...once. I was very underwhelmed by its performance. Now I stick with all Dell business line laptops/desktops and have the custom built Falcon NW at home.
Are you in the correct spec range for the software? Doing updates? Etc. Etc.
If you're not super techie on the hardware/software side, and I hate saying this, but an Apple can be fine. It's very "set it and forget it" because of how much they limit their users. Plus, they have added the Windows mode that lets you switch the machine back and forth from an Apple to a Windows machine. Just buy something with real balls to handle your workload. (Gordon will get hard reading that sentence.)

Yes. 12th gen intel I7 with 64GB of RAM, etc, etc. SSD, etc.
It works "fine," but not as well as it should, imho. A desktop would work better, but I hate being tied to a desk.

The only other thing I'd tell you, well two things, is:
1. Check connectivity. Not just yours, but what is the software doing. I've been finding intermittent issues with M365 lately and it's not our equipment. It's the software trying to do something online, and specifically with OneDrive, and we don't even use it. We've been disabling OneDrive to resolve the issue. Your software could be trying to "call home" for whatever reason and slowing things down.
2. There are tools out there that can assist in cleaning up your PC if you don't have the knowledge to do it yourself. The advantage Linux has over Windows is not having to install and load up tons of drivers because Linux users only use what they need while Windows has to serve the world and all of its products. Thus, Windows has a lot of shit running that doesn't need to for each person. Cleaning out everything except Antivirus from the Startup programs is a good thing to try and see if that improves performance too.

The ONLY reason I use virtual servers is because of DR. Aside from that, they run like shit. That has always been the lie about VMs. "No real performance difference." Complete horseshit.

Yeah, I've seen the marketing and talk to sales people too. However, I actually work on them, have their hosts in house, and discuss it with techs from around the world who aren't trying to sell me something.
Soon I'll only have 2 Hypervisors at each site (primary and secondary) that cannot be hosted off site and four Hypervisors at HQ. All other equipment will be network backbone or specialized, like Darktrace.

I was trying to find out some way to get a discount on the Macbook. Apple only seems to offer educational discounts. My kids aren't in college yet, but know plenty of college aged kids. But then it turns out you can just say "Yeah, I'm educational" and they give you 10% off.

Sometimes when it goes off, it doesn't play noise nor does it vibrate.
You check and your phone is on Ring and full volume, but no noise is happening because the whole phone has been muted by an alarm not going off.
Happened to me this morning.
