Lol. To be clear, I was super polite to all the poll workers.

I w in the toughman contest for the day. Currently 3F outside. Heard the trash truck, said OH SHIT, and ran out bare foot and no coat to pull the can forward, about 80 feet of driveway. The driver laughed at me but I caught him

I wonder if our trash people are coming today. 1" of snow. City is basically shut down.

It was -5 here this morning and we have Southerners in town visiting for Q1 meetings. I've been laughing at their reactions to the cold here and the snow back home.

BTW, -5 today, but I thought it was MUCH worse yesterday when temps were in the single digits because the wind was blowing yesterday. Extreme cold without wind is pretty easy to handle for the brief periods of time you'd be outside. Cold with wind cuts you like a knife and finds every single crack in your outfit.

Basically, it's the same as a hot day with and without a breeze, just in reverse.

I was in Scarsborough, Ontario January 1994 for this:
On January 16, Scarborough, Ontario, recorded an all-time record low temperature of −35.2 °C (−31.4 °F), several degrees colder than the official coldest record for Toronto, which now includes Scarborough.
The wind chill was -40 or lower. I brought tennis shoes. I had to buy boots on the trip. But yeah, the wind makes it soooo much worse.

Two days ago was 30 and sunny, low breeze. Felt great. Yesterday was 30, cloudy, and windy, and was awful.

Exactly. People always focus on temps, but forget how much of a factor the wind plays.

On a related note, I know this doesn't make sense, but I swear my fingers seem to get colder faster inside gloves when shoveling snow.

They tight and cutting off circulation? They not well insulated and CONDUCTING heat away faster than an air gap INDUCTION would?

Look at you trying to be Mr. Wizard.

Not tight like that, but I assumed tight enough to make the hand sweat, thus speeding up the fingers getting colder faster.

Evaporative cooling (sweat drying and taking heat along with it) would be a sign of not being waterproof.

Two winters ago, I was running the snow-blower and the sheer pin that made the blades spin on the axle broke. It sheered off, one could say. I finished the driveway with only the left half of my blades spinning, and it looked like a super sloppy job until the snow melted. I found a bolt that fit, and repaired it myself. One of those Man Moments... "Finally the bolt I put aside 18 years ago found a use!"

Then two winters went by with no snow accumulation at all.

I was hoping the still-waning Ice Age meant more mild Ohio winters from now on, but we've been below freezing for the better part of the last 2 months and it sucks and now a lot of snow is in the forecast.

By this time last year, I was tapping maple trees for sap. Sigh.

There's porn polyamorous relationships, and then there's reality where you kidnap and torture a man.

Why is she the one with the shortest hair?

Based on her picture, I assume they were softening the guy up so she could eat him.

This is what I imagine swinger communities typically look like.

Not so much as that... no one would touch those meth-naking-looking-hairballs......... but in reality they aren't models. And I'd say the average swinger BMI in NW Ohio is about 28.

SO............. not so much for me any more. I'm still set in my ways, I am not attracted to obesity. As I look more and more like a grandpa my taste in women is still Mila Kunis. So I'd rather just not.

We're going to a couple of events in DC, and I sure hope the people are hotter than that.

i hear you. I created a dating profile for poly-only, and man... that was a disappointing pool. Meanwhile, friend of mine got divorced, and his dating pool was pretty amazing.

I just saw a tourist commercial for Ohio. Their bragging points:

1. Put-in-bay
2. Some place with some rocky terrain (this looked like a legit destination, unless what they showed in the commercial was all there is)
3. The Toy Story house in Cleveland
4. They are on the edge of Appalachia (you can see it from here!)

I mean. That's it?
