Bigger question. . . will you play it? Knowing how long it took us last time, you have that much time again?

I still do not own it. I'd like to play this with you boys but not sure if i can play on a consistent basis. Maybe in few months that will change.

Honestly haven't been playing many games at all lately. Actually, playing LoL of all things when i do though.

Once school starts, yes, I should have more stability in my life again.

And Stranger, we won't have to game on a schedule...although...perhaps I'll fire up the Twitch stream and start giving away game keys. :D

Dying Light 2

Beat the game yesterday.

The basics of the game are the same as the original, so I won't rehash.

Here are some notes:
Dying Light > Dying Light 2
Your average Archie comic story > The overall story of DL2
Kyle Crane > Aiden Caldwell
Thalia > Lawan

This is still great fun, but the original is better, particularly the story in the OG. The story here is a mess. It's not cohesive and doesn't flow well, which matches the world itself. In DL, Haran flowed. Parquoring (sp?) through the city fell good and natural. It's fine here in Villodore, but there are too many areas where it doesn't flow well. Too many odd setups that make zero sense.

Everything is still fun, the combat is still pretty great, but I never got as immersed in the story/world like I did in the original. They did add a bunch of new stuff, which is fun, but it doesn't hit like the first game.

If I had to guess I'd say they tried to focus too much on the post-game and multiplayer stuff. I can imagine their executives saying, "GTA5 is going strong years later. Let's focus on doing the same."

The whole game seems...not half baked, but like it was released about 3 months of polishing too soon. And seriously, all the best weapons and so on are buried in post-game/multiplayer content. The game can be beaten without that stuff, but it's annoying that it's buried. And some of the daily/weekly tasks to earn points are fucking stupid and way too specific. "Kill 5 spitters with a spear at night." Oh, and speaking of half baked...make sure you follow the hoverboard storyline so you can drive that thing and see how they clearly released the game without everything working. I have NEVER encountered anything this bad in a game before. The hoverboard is unplayable (Google it, it's not just me.) and it's embarrassing something like that hit the published copy of the game.

BTW, one theme of the game is ridiculously difficult challenges. Not so much to beat them, but to get gold. Not all are this way, but some really induced a lot of rage in the community.

There's also some balance and AI issues. You'll probably want to increase the difficulty as you get some levels. Also, zombies shouldn't walk by human enemies to come get me. That makes zero sense.

Oh, and there are bugs. Nothing game crashing, but I noticed quite a few bugs. Most are visual, but there's enough that it'll rip you out of the game and make you wonder if you really are playing a AAA title.

There's a DLC that game with my addition that was fine, but honestly, the story there was a bit stupid. A lot of stupid. The concept is fine, but the execution left a lot to be desired. Some of the individual stories were good.

Another DLC is coming, and free I believe, that stars Kyle Crane, and I've heard rumor that it might be a bit of an olive branch to fans as Techland is aware this wasn't a perfect follow up to the best zombie game EVAH.

If DL didn't exist, DL2 would easily be in the discussion for best zombie game ever, although Days Gone would be a true contender. However, since DL does exist, this pushes DL2 down to 3rd, perhaps 4th. If we judged solely on story, even farther...

Despite all the negatives, it's still worth playing at $25 or less. You will get your money back and have fun.
