• There's been a 3,000 person shortage of air traffic controllers.
• Per a 2023 DOT report, the FAA "lacked a plan to address" the shortage, which "posed a risk to the continuity of air traffic operations."
• 77 percent of critical facilities were under-staffed.
• The FAA was sued in a 2024 class-action lawsuit for rejecting 1,000 qualified white applicants, as hiring them wouldn't help fulfill DEl quotas.
• The FAA created a new test designed to add more African Americans, awarding points for attributes unrelated to the job. (Such practices included awarding points for science being an individual's worst class in school.)
• The CTI program used to graduate 100% of those who went on to work in their field, but DEI practices meant many graduates got passed over in favor of applicants who merely graduated high school.
