Pretty smart marketing here. Give couples a movie where they're the target for Valentine's Day. The perfect date film for the holiday.
Let's see if the movie holds up.

Heart Eyes (2025)
This is not a straight up horror. It's officially in the comedy horror genre, so be aware of that.
Ally is going through a breakup and is super depressed. She meets a new guy, Jay, but it's a work thing. They have a meeting on Valentine's Day and that puts them in the cross hairs of Heart Eyes who goes on killing sprees in random cities every Valentine's Day. What follows is a cat and mouse through Seattle.
First, Heart Eyes is actually cool. The mask is awesome and the light up hearts make sense when you see them in action. He has a very Jason-like vibe about him. That's what people want!!! Audiences want a new Jason, Freddy, or Michael. This film does not deliver...
Second, I hate to say this, but Ally and Jay's story was actually good. A romcom horror actually worked, and scientifically speaking, in such a scenario, one's motor would be running...
Third, the movie goes off the fucking rails in the last third of the movie. There's a reveal and it's beyond stupid. Logistically makes zero fucking sense, and would be super easy for the FBI to have figured out. Definitely a Scream 2, Friday the 13th Part 5, Halloween H20, etc. type of garbage ending. Sprinkle in a bit of Bond villain behavior, and it just doesn't work. Also, police stations in major metropolitan areas have more than four cops working.
An excellent romcom/horror the first 2/3rds of the movie, and uncreative, cliche crap the last third.
It's worth seeing and definitely more of a date night film, but that last part will have you groaning.
