Crimewave (1985)

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Crimewave (1985)

Post by Leisher »

How have I never heard of this movie before?

Written by Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, and Sam Raimi. Directed by Sam Raimi. (Joel, Ethan, and Sam's brother Ted all have cameos.)

Starring some heel named Bruce Campbell...just kidding. He's in it, but not the star. Although, he definitely comes off as being very "Ash". His best line:
I've never seen you here before. I like that in a woman.
This is a crime comedy. A struggling businessman hires a two man assassin team to eliminate his partner. However, things don't go as planned and hilarity ensues. The main story revolves around a nerd named Victor and a beautiful (legit gorgeous) young woman named Nancy who get caught up in the hit. I'm pretty sure Nancy was in one of the most famous two person scenes in TV history. (Hint: Dallas)

She's one of the famous faces in the film. Is that the sheriff from Fargo (the movie)? Yep. Is that Bluto? Yep. Is that General Munro? Yep.

Honestly, the story is stupid. The humor is mostly pratfall stuff, but there's a few dialogue jokes dropped in as well.

Still, I found myself enjoying it.

This is not deep thinking material, but if you find yourself looking for something SUPER light on plot and you just want some chuckles, this might fit the bill.

It's at 5.5 on IMDB, and that seems right. I laughed more during this than Napoleon Dynamite...
