Escapement

When I was a kid, I kept trying to figure out how I could make something mechanical that operated at linear speed (like time). I failed. In the absence of batteries, electricity, etc, I was just stumped. I could only get exponential (with regard to position) behavior.

When we were in England a couple of Summers ago, we went to Salisbury Cathedral where they had a foliot and verge escapement clock from the 1300s, and I was instantly like "Damn! That's what I needed to know as a kid!"

At any rate, saw a video on Facebook today where someone was making an escapement based Lego clock, and it reminded me of all the above

It's not me, it's someone else.

I don't know if you're a bigger nerd or me for checking out the links and being interested.
