Homeless Village

Post by Leisher »

Here's one that'll need a #RemindMe...

LA built a tiny house village to help with homelessness.

I like this idea a lot.

That being said, how will it be any different from tent cities and projects?

For this to work, it's got to be more than just build it and walk away. Social workers need to visit daily. There needs to be a police presence. Job skill training and job fairs should be offered. Perhaps tax incentives to local employers who hire from these villages. And so on.

Phoenix has to clear a homeless camp after neighbors sue.

Starting with the headline, doesn't it feel like the article paints the neighbors, who are simply protecting their property, investment, and families, as the bad guys?

"vulnerable residents" as the homeless people's description. Um, yeah it paints a side.
It's not me, it's someone else.
