Sony is getting hammered
The other thread was getting too long.
Sony is continuing to get destroyed at every turn for their brilliant strategies regarding the PS3.
The 2/12/07 Penny Arcade deals with an interview done with Sony Computer Entertainment of America's head cheese, Jack Tretton, in which he says that he'll pay $1200 if anyone can find a PS3 sitting on a store shelf in North America for more than 5 minutes.
Needless to say, MANY people want their money, including the PA guys.
Read the whole thing. EGM points out that they found about 20 when the article was first done. Others commenting are all throwing their two cents in about the availability of PS3s in their regions. Hell, in the interview the stupid ass actually admits they're sitting on shelves: "...but if only 9 of the 18 stores you contacted had supplies, that seems to be a clear indicator that sales continue to be outstanding."
What a lying weasel.
First of all, he JUST SAID that he challenged anyone to find one on shelves. Then he claims selling out in half the stores is doing well.
No, it's not dickhead. Not when you under shipped in the first place. Not when your competitors, BOTH of them, are outselling your units by a huge margin. Not when your company has no chance of making a profit on these machines. Not when one of your competitors is already making a profit on every machine. Not when developers across the board are all praising your competitors' dev kits and bashing your kit. And certainly not when you arrogant fuckwads thought this would be a good way to force your new technology into the marketplace.

No, not Microsoft because they haven't shown themselves to be hypocryical bastards, they don't have a smug assed core user base, they haven't destroyed an MMO that could have done well with just an "OK" game with "Star Wars" behind it, and they didn't load rootkit on my system when I played their music CD.
Besides, the government already tried to stick it to 'em (Microsoft) because they had the nerve not to have lobbyists. They took the full brunt of an ass fucking by the DoJ. I figure they've had their share of "Bad things" happen to them. Plus why pile on? Everyone else seems to cover the Microsoft loathing without my getting involved.

I read that interview in the magazine. In his defense, the interview was done about the time that they were showing up on shelves, so he was just a few days out of the loop.Leisher wrote:The other thread was getting too long.

I'd probably throw EA in there too. That list is really MOSTLY for reasons outside of the business itself. EA just has the ex-lax touch.Cakedaddy wrote:My list would have EA right up at the top. Might even be the top 5 actually.Vince wrote:Companies to whom I like to see bad things happen:

In their infinite wisdom, Sony is releasing the European version of the PS3 with reduced ability to play old games.
