Yo, Leish

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Seeing as how you've been the dude that always posts about this series ...

I'm preempting my Netlifx queue for seasons 1-4 of "The Shield." Is this shit worth it or should I queue something else?

Spike tends to show it at 10am daily, when I'm not in the most alert of mindsets. But hell, it seems entertaining then. Is it worth effectively spending my last month (for at least six months) of freedom here?

I'd argue that the first season of The Shield was one of the best seasons of any show ever.

Use the first episode as your benchmark. I've always thought it was one of the most brilliant premieres I've ever seen. It's like a boxer who gets you to focus on his jab only to deliver a right cross that you weren't expecting. (Seriously, that's a good analogy of that episode. Those who have seen it will agree.)

The pros:
-The first season is awesome.
-The first and second seasons are pretty damn realistic in terms of police procedures, laws, and inter office politics.
-GREAT acting.
-Every season is entertaining and full of excitement.
-It's a cable show. So nudity, violence, and language are at higher levels than network TV.
-You'll see the end of the show before you leave...maybe. Apparently, there are only 6 episodes left as this show was planned out from start to finish and they air starting in early 07. I've heard that it's possible they could try to extend the story due to good ratings, but I've also heard the writer say he wants to end it and then start a new series with a lot of the same actors only in completely different roles

The cons:
-As the show goes through the seasons, it does lose some realism. Not so much in terms of giving anyone super powers or anything like that, but more in the way of police procedures and such. The show doesn't lose it's entertainment edge though. I've still heard folks claiming the last season has been the best. So it'd shouldn't be a deterent.
-The shows must be watched in order and very few are "standalone". If you miss a few weeks, you'll be lost.

So yeah, check it out. I think it'll be up your alley.

5-7?

This upcoming season is the 6th and hopefully the final season. I expect you'll see Season 5 hit the shelves for Christmas.

Yea, I somehow put an extra season in there. Either way, I cannot 'Flix the series in its entirety before I leave. & I'm worried about the last season. I see only two logical conclusions to the show. & one of 'em just ain't that interesting & wouldn't make as much sense.
