Surprisingly strong show, and as far as I know, canon. It's mostly goofy comedy with a ragtag group of ensigns with a snarky girl as unofficial leader, but it has more than a few moments of real cleverness.

Fifth and final season has aired. Ended strong. This show was consistently strong, and I think they are wrong to end it. But they got to end on a "this is the end of the show" note, so that's good.
ST:TNG was producing 23, hour long episodes per season, for 7 seasons. Shows like this, these days, are doing 10 episodes of 30 minutes. So in the end we got a total of like not even two seasons of TNG. It sucks, and is lazy, and they need to be better.
