Very true. Hell, my tech school alone didn't end until December of that same year. It's almost like they were training me with actual marketable skills.

I got out of tech school and joined my first unit (ha, unit) on October 31, 1991. The first week of tech school was running all morning, and typing class all afternoon.
Then the e-club all night, which in California (at the time) meant you could drink at 18. WOW did we abuse alcohol, back then. Good times.

Booze must have been legal for me in tech school (Mississippi)? I remember getting drunk, but not abusing it until I got to NM and its e-club. That's where I watched OJ run from the cops!
