The argument will be, "Well, they were on vacation!" But I think I have to disagree.
Carnival cruise (mistake #1, but we were on a budget).
Shore excursion, some Mayan ruins in Costa Maya, followed by a couple hours at a recreational place called "The Blue Lagoon." I was really curious to see what kind of body of water this would actually be.
Two hot hours on the ruins, peeps were generally well behaved.
Travelling to the Lagoon after, tour guide says good-naturedly, "Ok family, now there's an open bar here, but please keep control. Don't have TOO much fun."
Since I was 30 I don't drink to the point of getting trashed but for about once every 5 years (documented), and there were a few families with little kids mixed in with our two busses full of Carnival Cruise guests, so yeah, good advice.
Sat at the thing, ate free, home-made chips and salsa (SO good), and I let the peeps keep bringing me beers... seeemed watered down a little, but whatev. I stopped at 4, 10(?) ounce cups, wasn't even feeling buzzed. But I had the kid, somewhere on the Yucatan Peninsula, so it isn't the time to get trashed.
1 hour and 50 minutes there, total. Everyone started sober.
Bus back was ROWDY. There was nearly a taco riot from, the back, people demanding we stop at the taco stand. That was slightly funny. But they actually started sounding angry, and then the vomiting started. I felt bad for those little kids in the back, a lot closer to it than we were in the front.
