Cruise throwing a baseball

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

or does he?

This is a filmmaking thing that someone actually noticed.

There are some decent explanations in the comments, but none explain why a grown man wouldn't be able to throw a baseball without hurting someone or breaking something. I mean, he does it at least once in that scene.

The real mistake that goes unnoticed is the trajectory of the baseball that breaks the window.

Eh, filmaking is the art of deception. This sort of thing goes on all the time, and back before there were VCRs and DVDs it never even got noticed.

Good catch by someone.

I don't think there's anything to it, though. If you see a movie set on a close up like that, things are pretty tight. Plus if they've done the scene all day, it would get pretty tiring after a while to have a ball in his hand. Or it could have been what they thought would be a test/rehersal take and the director/editor decided that was the best take.

That sort of thing happens a lot in movies.
