X-men Cool Stuff - Spoilers

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Cool stuff they had in the new movie.

Fastball Special w/ Wolverine and Colossus.

Bobby Drake/Iceman goes into full body of ice mode.

Frasier made a pretty good Beast.

Dark Pheonix looked cool.

Goddamn, that I still don't believe that first thing needed to happen.

The second is enough to get it on my Netflix queue.

Phoenix would have whipped Logan's ass. Why did she make people disolve like the Scarlett Witch makes people disolve?

I didn't really care for that. She could have destroyed that island alone in seconds.

Oh, and did you all stay until after the credits...?

No I didn't. I just stayed until they had flashed all the "non-rolling" credits. I'd heard there was something. What was it?

The Phoenix powers didn't bother me so much. I think the disolving was more for dramatic effect. They indicated within the story in a few places that she was more powerful to the nth degree than any of then.

And I think Wolverine killed her because she wanted to die. Not because she couldn't beat him.

Chuck survived and was inside the cancer patient on Muir Island. He spoke to Moira.

As for the rest of the stuff...alternate universe.

If you compare the movies next to the comics, it's not even a contest as to which are written better and more consistent in their storylines and characters.

I was a bit turned off towards the end of the film because the writing was so amateurish. You could tell that they really didn't know the characters at all.

Don't even get me started on Juggie or his encounter with Kitty and Leech.

I tend to cut them a lot of slack. It's not like the comics haven't been guilty of some really stupid story lines as well.

The whole manner in which they brought Jean back from the dead after the death of the Dark Phoenix reeked of someone's ass (from which it was pulled).

They wanted to bring her back to have the original members of the X-men in X-Factor and they came up with something over a beer. I really think that was how much thought was put into it.

1. I liked the movie. I know nothing about the comics beyond things that have been told to me... I knew about Dark Phoenix, for example. But everything else in the flick was new to me.

2. I thought the director... rushed some of the really poignant scenes. Charles getting vaporized, for example, was a complete surprise to me... and after the director built up to it, with the intense... intensity of Charles resisting Jean.... we get a half second of Logan screaming NOOOO and then we're at the funeral. I could have used a few moments to process the shock with Aurora and Logan before I went directly to the grieving process at the funeral. And it was the same with Mystique getting the injection... and the sad irony of Logan being the only one who could kill Jean because of his love for her... it was all just over in a flash.

3. Juggernaught needs momentum to be unstoppable? Well he was at a dead stop when that chick left him halfway through the floor. So whatup with that?

4. There were points in the movie where I'm thinking, "PG-13?"

And something about Charles putting "brain blocks" in Jean is bugging me, but I'm not sure why, yet. Just doesn't seem to fit with the last 2 movies.

1) definetly, never read the comics, liked the movies!

2) I thought the Charles part was ok, the mystique part was a bit sudden, but i suppose that's not permanent eh?

3) Anytime he says "Bitch" he gets his powers back, new rule

4) I kept thinking that as people started evaporating and all manners of objects started going, in, out, and between Logan.

This was bothering me to for awhile as it seemed out of character from the previous flicks. It was like the director was trying to get people pissed off at him so they could kill him off... btw did you catch the scene after the credits?

But thinking back to the comics X he was written with a dark side as he developed plans on the best way to kill every one of his X-Men should the need ever arise.

In the original history of dark phoenix its some complete entity that takes over Jean and not some schizo alter ego. That is definately a good read.

And oh yeah...

The part where Mystique says, "I don't answer to my slave name..."

I thought it was hilarious that an intelligent person wopuld say that, so I laughed out loud... hard.

I was the only one in the theatre laughing.

And oh yeah lots of black people were there.

"Oh my stars and garters!"

I popped for that line. I've been known to quote it from time to time.

P.S. Juggernaught is NOT a mutant. Plus, he's Xavier's half-brother, so that kind of bugged me.

Like I said in the review thread Malcolm, treat it like an alternate universe and you'll be ok with it.

Losts of stuff "the book was better" crowd can bitch about.
I wanted Rogue to be more like her comic character (she started off naughty.. uh... I mean bad.). She needs a thicker accent.

**SPOILER**
Magneto instantly dumping Mystique after she took the dart meant for him was pretty unbelievable. It's like, *poof!*, she's meaningless to him. Most likely he'd put her aside to keep her safe until they found a way to restore her powers. Or he could have even killed her to save her from the horror of being human.

I've been reading lots of different discussions about this movie... the general consensus seems to be, "I saw a million things wrong with it. Two thumbs up."

That's because he's gay and wanted to move in on Pyro.

That was his "out" for that relationship.
