So what are the odds that people decide electronic business can't be trusted, and we go back to pen and paper and messengers that can be physically protected by rough men with powerful guns?

That has already begun.

Remember the whole "move all your company's data to the cloud" push? Many companies are now rejecting that method. Instead they're creating their own cloud (WAN) for Disaster Recovery. Also, several SaaS companies have altered their product so they can pitch "none of your data ever touches our servers".

Meanwhile, there are several examples of companies having policies that do not allow certain proprietary secrets to be stored on any PC or network enabled PC. KFC and Coca-Cola are two examples off the top of my head.

Interesting.

It's just too bad so much damage had to be done before peeps started realizing, "Maybe having everything connected to the internet isn't a good idea."

Remember when "the cloud" was just becoming a huge buzzword and every healthcare company in the world stuck all of our confidential medical records out there?

Then they all got hacked.

That was fun.

Companies are always tripping over themselves to rush into whatever new technology is "hot" without ever considering the long term consequences or if it's even a good fit for their company. A result of having so many non-tech people in CIO positions, I guess.

I love the cloud. And, hopefully, am not stupid enough to get hacked.

The cloud is a great tool.

However, it was marketed and used incorrectly.

That is such a fucking dead on statement. I get asked a lot about cloud shit from friends and family. I might use that quote in a blanket post.

If you don't hit "Post Reply" and just highlight the text you want to quote, a small window will appear offering to put it into the quick reply box. I simply had highlighted the quotes too.

Try it. Big time saver.

I used to say it. But it's so much more now. AWS cloud is amazeballs.
