“Fifty-one percent of the American people lacked information (in this election) and we want to educate and enlighten them,” Moore was quoted in Thursday’s edition of Variety. “They weren’t told the truth. We’re communicators and it’s up to us to start doing it now.”
What planet is this man living on?

I recently watched Farenheit 9/11. I watched it to see what it was about. A lot of people have commented on it but when I asked if they saw it they hadn't.
It is a documentary at least in the broadest sense. Moore relies on documents and evidence but the conclusions he draws seem strange or extreme. Also while he does bash on Bush he doesn't exactly wave the flag for democrats either.
He does ask some interesting questions and point out some sad examples of power and privilege.
As to his strange conclusions, for example, he talks about how Bush was a deserter. Well Bush was AWOL and did get suspended for not getting his annual medical examination in 1972 but he was not a deserter. Moore's statement/conclusion was erroenous either because of lack of knowledge or for dramatic effective. I think the latter.
Also he comments that when Bush released his Nat'l Guard records portions that were redacted were to cover his relationship with James R. Bath. (Bath also missed his annual examination) Bath was a part owner of Arbusto Energy with Bush and had dealings with the Bin Laden family (example he purchased Houston Gulf Airport)
However, since Bush was releasing his records and not Bath's it only makes sense to redact any info that doesn't pertain to his own personal military record.
Moore points out some things like how Congress at the time only had one member who had a child enlisted in the military. However, he focused on the word "enlisted" so some members of Congress might have children who were "commissioned" in the military.
He points out that the Bush family does and has had a relationship with promenient Saudi families. He then interweaves this relationship as the reason for many subsequent actions by the President.
Moore asks one question that appears to give some validity to his conclusions. Why were members of Bin Laden's family and Saudis allowed to leave? Especially when we know Saudi Arabia is the major source of Qutb belief and isamic fundamentalism. Also when it would seem to hurt the ability to investigate and question them and their relationship to the terrorists. ( Osama Bin Laden being one and the 9/11 terrorists who turned out to be mostly Saudis)
He also asks how we ended up in Iraq from 9/11 and the use of fear and being unpatriotic as tactics to get things done.
I don't really like Moore and I think he has ulterior motives other than social commentary (like making money) for making the movies he does. He does pose some interesting questions but very little in the way of substantiated answers.

My first response is that when the Japs attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, their diplomats were expelled from Washington... allowed to leave. Bin laden's family aren't diplomats, but neither are they necessarily complicit in Osama's activities, either.
But hell, who knows, maybe they paid enough money to the right people and bought their way out of the country.
It was a scary, unprecedented day in American history. How easy it is to look back from years in the future and talk about how fucked up it was handled with all of that convenient hindsight.
I still think Moore, like all ultra-liberals, is fundamentally ignorant about a lot of core concepts of the human condition.
