There, where the disease is most common, the two month treatment for Chagas costs between $50 and $100. If Chagas goes untreated, 30% of those afflicted can develop serious heart problems.
According to the New York Times, who spoke with Shkreli on a conference call (was he stroking a lizard in front of a giant fireplace?), this treatment would come State-side pending FDA approval and would likely cost in the range of $50-60,000 a treatment, on par with Hepatitis C.
