Batman Vs Superman

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

It's still crazy to me though that the actors who have played Lex Luthor are Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and.... that guy.

That guy was a huge whiff.

You're clearly drunk or baiting. Not even Malcolm would say something so outlandish.

She killed a god in WW easily. In BvS she basically had zero offense.

You don't watch probably 1/10th the horror movies I do. Trust me, it's the best horror film in a long time. It's also light years better than the piece of shit this thread is about.

Ben's a good actor who is a liberal douchebag that gets a bad rap from a time when he was banging JLo. I doubt I could have drinks with him without wanting to hit him, but the guy can act. He's not Nic Cage swinging for the fences with every performance.

Keaton's sucked because Burton made him too much of a cartoon. Kilmer's I have zero recollection of, but I thought his Wayne was garbage. Words not be spoken of Clooney. Bale was a cardboard cutout as Wayne and the bullshit voice was hilariously bad in the suit. Will Arnett IS a cartoon.
TheCatt wrote: For the record, I watched the Ultimate edition, not the original, and that seems to have improved the movie significantly based on that review.
So did I...

Snyder's vision is dogshit and that's why DC is doing three months of reshoots to fix his Justice League.

A movie is only as good as its villain.

You clearly missed Malcolm's post, and you are so amazingly wrong it's not even funny. I can only assume you did heroin on your birthday, died, were revived, then died again, and a hooker is posting for you.

The Kryptonians are basically gods on Earth. Lex ostensibly took his 1,000 world wikipedia and came up with the most powerful thing he could.

I don't watch horror movies, because I have literally never seen a good one, and stopped watching the entire genre. They are terrible. Light years happier than Malcolm is still depressing.

A cartoon was better than Affleck, you are correct. Affleck's a good actor, but this role, and his execution thereof, were garbage.

How'd you know about the hooker?

Lex was terrible and so was that version of Doomsday that Lex somehow created in a day.

The fact that you've so far said nothing about how bad Eisenberg was kind of negates your Affleck bashing.

The movie wasn't called Lex v Superman: Dawn of a Shitty Shared Universe.

Yeah but is it longer? I don't think I could take that.

Also have to agree that they're doing a terrible job at casting villains. Eisenberg as Luthor was retarded. He acted like he thought he was the joker. Which brings me to Jared Leto....do I even have to say anything?

Gal Gadot is pretty. King Henry's sidekick Henry makes a good Superman; he's got a pretty goddam awesome chin. Affleck...I dunno. If he can't play a millionaire, he'd pretty much be the worst actor ever. I don't think he was as awesome at it as Downey is as Iron Man.

The problem with these core DC characters is they're LITERALLY 80 years old. They've been re-written and re-booted and killed and retconned and adapted for the large and small screen so many times...they're not even characters anymore.

Lex wasn't good, but... 1) as Malcolm said, not his movie. 2) I have never read a SuperMan comic. 3) I've only ever seen the original SuperMan movies, and only once since I was kid. I had a vague "I don't remember Lex this way," but again - I don't are. All I want is to be entertained. Originalism doesn't matter to me. I think Eisenberg did a good job of executing what was asked of him. What was asked of him, was dumb.

Quick name a good movie with a terrible villain. I'll wait.

"The villain makes the hero, which makes the movie."

Every movie is the villain's movie. The story is about the hero overcoming the _______. If there's nothing to overcome, the movie suffers.
TheCatt wrote: All I want is to be entertained.
And to be honest, in one way it makes your opinion perfectly valid, and in another makes it irrelevant. I Think you can say "I enjoyed it as someone who knows nothing about it", but after that, I don't think you should be debating the aspects of characters you know nothing about. I mean, are you trying to get hired to direct the next DC film? (Long way to go to get to that punch line.)
TheCatt wrote: I think Eisenberg did a good job of executing what was asked of him. What was asked of him, was dumb.
Well, he's not without sin. It was his choice to make Lex Luthor act like...oh, what's the kids name...Max Landis. Yes, Eisenberg based his Luthor on real life director, Max Landis. So...

I forgot this quote last night. If you go into something with the attitude of "This will suck", it's going to suck. I typically hate period pieces and, to a lesser extent, Westerns. I really have to psych myself up to give them a chance before I get bored out of my mind and want to turn it off. I'm like that with one subgenre of horror: ghosts. I'm all out with the ghost bullshit and the rest of the world should be too. I'm tired of boring effects and magical ghosts whose abilities change to match what is needed for the story.

Not true. I was convinced that Titanic would suck, and I enjoyed it. Same with BvS. Low expectations are easy to exceed.
