There's no doubt that some marijuana from places like Colorado and Washington is being illegally sent elsewhere. But if this were truly a serious, nationwide problem you'd expect federal marijuana trafficking offenses to be rising. Instead, they're falling. This suggests that concerns about interstate marijuana smuggling could be overblown.

Shit, no way. Legalizing the drug leads to fewer people trying to sneak less in? Completely unexpected.

Plus the price of legal bud in those states is still rather higher than the black market. Even if you wanted to smuggle it you couldn't compete with the foreign imports and make a profit.

Based on the findings from the study, it supports the long held idea that marijuana offers people between the ages of 21 and 40 an alternative for people who suffer from chronic pain. While the study only looked at 18 states because of the time frame in question and the data offered, Medical Daily points out that there are now 25 states which have medical marijuana laws on the books. This increase in states legalizing the use of marijuana as a medical remedy for pain means that the potential is there to see the opioid epidemic decrease as a whole.

Furthermore, I bet there's no correlation between stopping opioid usage during this timeframe in one's life and decreased chance of usage or addiction later on.

An ingredient in marijuana may reduce seizures in people with a severe form of epilepsy, a new study suggests.

The ingredient in question is cannabidiol -- a molecule from the marijuana plant that does not create a "high." The drug is being developed by GW Pharmaceuticals, which funded the new study.

Researchers used cannabidiol to treat a type of epilepsy known as Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

"The seizures in Lennox-Gastaut syndrome can be very difficult to treat, and the ones that cause falling can be dangerous and occur multiple times in a day," explained an expert in epilepsy treatment, Dr. Derek Chong. He directs the division of epilepsy at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

No comment from Jeff "Weed = Heroin" Sessions, mainly because he lacks qualifications in chemistry, biology, or anything to do with regulating drugs.

More proof the DEA and AG Harry Anslinger, Jr. have their respective paranoid, empty, clueless heads up their respective old, pathetic, fear-mongering assholes.

A medicine made from marijuana, without the stuff that gives a high, cut seizures in kids with a severe form of epilepsy in a study that strengthens the case for more research into pot’s possible health benefits.

Remember, "no accepted medical usage." I guess epilepsy doesn't count.

Saw an interesting take on "Silk Road" the other day. The guy who wrote the software just got a bunch of prison time for enabling the easy purchase of drugs. Another way to look at it is that he got prison time for taking the violence and danger out of the drug trade, at least the last mile part.

Thought that was interesting.

That's because the government wants you buying illegal drugs only from them and their approved list of allies. The heroin trade in Afghanistan jumped about 1000% since we put the current douche in power a few years back. You can't just circumvent the third-world strongmen they have to prop up to defeat the commies, al-Qaida, ISIS, and the next enemy for whom we'll sacrifice long-term reason for short-term idiocy. Anyone who enables users to purchase reliable merchandise directly from producers is obviously guilty of high treason.
