General TSA thread
Re: General TSA thread
Hey, it takes a lot of time to say, "Open that second line over there." Even longer since they unionized and need to approve a new contract to man that second line.

Re: General TSA thread
I'm convinced the TSA should be moved to the social security administration because the jobs are welfare. There is no level of incompetence or assholery to which an employee can sink to warrant getting fired. Fucking useless cunts.
Yep, nothing says "fix" like "pay us so you can surrender your rights ahead of time." That's not a fix, it's fucking disturbing. While the TSA has implemented some fixes to long airport security lines—like the TSA PreCheck program

Really? This hasn't happened before? I find that incredibly surprising.a TSA spokesperson told the paper that, regarding having a traveler sue the agency over a missed flight, “I have never encountered anything similar.”

Re: General TSA thread
It may have to do with finding a law firm insane enough to file. His chances of winning are barely non-zero.
1) Is he claiming the wait estimate by the TSA is a guarantee?
2) Is he claiming not maximizing the number of open stations is proof of incompetence, ineffectiveness, or negligence?
I can't see #1 having legal merit. If he's pursuing #2 (which sounds like the basis for his suit), then he runs up against...

These are positions whose duties include literally groping your balls in the name of national security. Their very existence is proof that nothing in the TSA is or will ever be taken seriously. No one in power expects anything from them except the same false sense of security one gets when closing one's eyes in the face of something scary. There is no level of incompetence or assholery to which an employee can sink to warrant getting fired.

Oh, no, I don't doubt that it will get thrown out pretty quickly because most judges are pretty fond of governmental power. I'm just surprised it took this long for someone to try.

What's the difference between a felony and something vital to the safety of the airborne public?
Too bad he didn't work for he TSA. He could be getting paid for this.An Oregon man has been charged with abusive sexual contact after he allegedly groped an unaccompanied teen aboard an American Airlines flight.

Re: General TSA thread
Brave TSA agents put their lives on the line to stop terrorists and beat the shit out of physically handicapped flyers with brain tumours.
Keep protecting our freedom, you fucking asshats. I wish hell existed so you could go to it. So far there has been ZERO admission of guilt or wrongdoing on the part of the American SS. But hey, doesn't she look like a terrorist that warrants a violent takedown and arrest?
Remember, their funding gets increased every year. Every American SS agent and airport pig involved in that incident deserves a very public and very brutal beating. She tried to tell TSA agents about her daughter's condition, Shirley Cohen said, but she was kept at a distance by police. Hannah attempted to run away from TSA agents, who then violently accosted the young woman.
...
“She's trying to get away from them but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor. There was blood everywhere,” said Shirley Cohen, adding that "they grabbed her from both sides, it freaked her out."
...
Hannah was arrested and sent to jail, according to WREG.
...
a TSA spokesperson issued a statement to WREG indicating that some passengers should set up special screenings.
“Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation," wrote Sari Koshetz.

Re: General TSA thread
Some lawmakers wonder how the fuck the TSA is still around.
The defense...“Half of TSA’s [almost 60,000] workforce allegedly committed misconduct from 2013 to 2015,” Perry said, citing data from the report. “Almost half of that number did so repeatedly.”
Whew. Thank god for such a thorough vetting process.Gowadia cited internal findings that 99.7 percent of TSA officers have passed the agency’s integrity testing, which she said included things such as an undercover supervisor dropping money at an airport security checkpoint to see whether the TSA personnel return it.
Fucking seriously.Thursday’s hearing came one year after the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general said his undercover operatives were able to slip through airport security with weapons and phony bombs more than 95 percent of the time. They were able to carry weapons or bomb-like material through airport-security checkpoints in 67 of 70 attempts last year
...
At that April hearing, the committee heard from Mark Livingston, a program manager in the TSA’s Office of the Chief Risk Officer.
“The refusal to address or to hold senior leaders accountable is paralyzing this agency,” Livingston testified in April. “TSA employees are less likely to report operational security or threat-relevant issues out of fear of retaliation from supervisors who fear further retaliation from their chain of command. No one who reports issues is safe at TSA.”
...
Kelly Hoggan was reassigned as head of the agency’s security division after it was revealed that he received bonuses of $10,000 on six different occasions, and three others just above or below that amount, over a 13-month period in 2013 and 2014, according to information collected by the DHS.

Re: General TSA thread
Are you a small child with a pacemaker? The TSA in Phoenix isn't falling for your terrorist facade.
The only time the TSA prevents terrorism is when it stops its own agents from groping airline passengers, i.e. never.Alternative screening usually allows Chille to bypass walking through traditional metal detectors—which can affect pacemakers’ function—and instead go through a different process which usually takes about two minutes. But on Saturday, the family says the TSA process took over an hour as multiple officers, reportedly with guns and tasers, were called in to complete the screening.
“One of the TSA agents told me they’d prevented terrorist attacks using nine-year-old boys with pacemakers and children before, so I laughed and said, ‘Oh when?’ At that point, the TSA agent became very quiet and said, ‘Oh we’re not at liberty to discuss this,’ ” said Bergstrom.
After Chille asked one of the agents what was happening, one reportedly announced that the boy would not be able to fly that day.
...
In a statement to FOX 9, TSA Spokesman Nico Melendez said, “TSA is committed to ensuring all travelers are treated with respect and courtesy. TSA is reviewing Saturday’s incident and working to contact the family.”
But Bergstrom says no one has reached out to her directly.
“TSA has not contacted me. No one has apologized. No one has reached out,” she said.

I'm a trusted traveler now. I get to keep my shoes on, my coat on, belt on, don't have to take out my laptop, or my liquids. Oh, and I go through a metal detector instead of a full body scanner.

TSA doing a bang up job.
Only took two hours for them to send some reject rent-a-cops to man the post and do their vital job of securing our safety by shitting on our freedoms, because they suck at everything else. By the by, they didn't tell anyone else and tried to cover up their idiocy.Eleven passengers walked through a security lane without being screened at Kennedy Airport early Monday because the TSA left the area open and unattended, law enforcement sources said.
A security camera captured a metal detector going off three times as the travelers walked through the screening lane, the sources said.
Oops. But, don't worry, at least they're taking responsibility for fucking up.Rather than notifying the police, who are specifically trained to handle those situations, the TSA used its own lesser trained agents to search for the unscreened passengers.
Seen and unseen? Well, eleven dudes sure as shit saw the second half of that equation. The TSA said it was “confident” the incident represented “no threat to the aviation transportation system.”
“TSA works with a network of security layers both seen and unseen,” the statement said. “Once our review is complete, TSA will discipline and retrain the employees as appropriate.”

I will attempt to fly for the first time in about a decade on Friday. Anything I need to know? Still need to take off my shoes and pants and take all devices out of bags?

Yeah, and dont carry any liquids. Pee in a quart sized back to have it examined. And remove all devices from your anus so they have room for theirs.

Yes, you still have to unpack and repack half your luggage in front of people who aren't mentally competent enough to operate a slurpee machine and it's still a felony not to do everything they say, because ... well, no one with any sense would otherwise.
