For the few of you that weren't there last night...
So last night I was studying and running level 3s, when either Tas or I suggested trying a level 4. There's a Q18 L4 is Isinokka, so figured we'd try her out.
The mission that came up was Angels Extravaganza. A 5-part mission that, at level 3, takes 2 hours for me to complete alone. I could only imagine what level 4 would be like. The good news is that the mission was back in Oipo, so we were near base should something happen.
Tas was support, I was the tank. Tas was also humor, making comments about how we were both about to die. I went to the activation gate first. Immediately, when I arrived, about 12+ ships went aggro. All within 20km - at least 2 BSs, 6 cruisers and 4 little ships (all webbers). Concerned that one may have a warp jammer, I warped out immediately. Then Tas warped in. When I notified him I'd left so quickly, he responded "now why did you do that?" Well, I panicked.
At that point, Sam and Gordo showed up to lend a hand. They asked if they could help.
Tas told them we were all going to die.
We ended up going back anyway: Tas as healer, rest as tanks. I got down to structure and warped out. We got a few of the webbers. We docked, healed and went back. We got a few more webbers, and warped out (no more than shield damage this time).Went back, got a few more webbers, warped out.
Went back again, this time we were able to tank (Tas healing), and took out the big BS's as well (slowly but surely). Intersting this about them is that they seemed to have a very short firing range (20km in most cases).
With those ships behind us, it was 1 down, 4 more to go. "Four more?!" was Sam's reaction, iirc.
At that point, we could only imagine how painful it would be if we had to keep warping out. Fortunately, it seemed we'd gotten our tactics together, and from then on, we never had more than 2/5 people have to warp out from damage. We cleaned up the remaining stages with... not quite ease, but solid tactics and solid work. Oh, and Taran showed up around the 4th gate and helped make life easier too.
It took about 2.5 hours, iirc. Gordo said we each made about 3mil in bounty, plus the 400k from the mission itself. We also got 4600 LP, which is halfway to a +2 implant, and nearly 1/3rd of a +3 implant... and 1% of a faction BS.
Lessons learned:
- Healers help
- Angels take most damage from Havoc missiles, not Scourge.
- Angels do Explosive damage, but their most damage comes from guns, so don't let them get close.
- 4 Feroxes can do an extravaganza. 2... not so much.
- There was no apparent warp scrambling on this mission.
- While certainly not as exciting as pvp, it did make good money, and help us on tactics/communication (at least for peeps like me that hadn't been hunting)
