So, we need new member policies. I bring this up because someone Gordo & I know from elsewhere online is gunna do the 14-day trial, and if he likes the game I'm probably gunna try to convince him we'd be good to hang with. Of course, y'all will want to get to know him before that becomes official. But a policy would be good to have.

Eve's got really good guild management tools, so we don't have to be extra careful. Regular members with no Roles can't do anything with our corp hangers or cash or anything, so we don't have to worry about people messing with stuff they shouldn't. So I'd say anyone coming along that not everyone already knows should go ahead and get accepted as a regular member for awhile, and when there's a consensus that he or she has become "one of us" then maybe they get Roles as appropriate. Or if they turn out to be a pain in the ass, they get the boot.

This forum being password protected, maybe that shouldn't be a part of the deal until they're pretty far into the fold.

What say y'all?

I've known of the existance of the guy for several years. I've never heard anything particularly good or bad about him, but he was trustworthy enough to be invited to another particularly secret forum, so that's a feather in his cap.

On a scale of negative - - - neutral - - - positive, I rate him

Neutral +.

As long as he can give good 'Ctrl + B', he's got my vote. . .

At this point, I'd say any new member MUST have RL ties to an exsisting member. Beyond that, the greater number of RL ties to current members increases trustworthyness. Ummm. I'm down with limited access to guild stuff. We can make Division 7 of the corp hangars low security for our new members with 1 - 6 staying high(er) sec. If they are just a member (no director, security office, etc title), there really isn't anything they'd be able to do to us. But, I'm all for giving them access to a division or two in corp hangars so they have someplace to get free stuff. I'm sure we've all got stuff that's worthless to us at this point, but would be awesome to him first getting started.

Also, make sure they know we are the good guys. No acception. We aren't the good guys as long as there are bad guys to kill, but bad guys when we get bored and need action!

And the only problem I'd have with someone having access to this forum is that we discuss group outings and whatnot. So, unless they plan on sharing it with the bad guys so they know what to pack and where we'll be, I'm not sure having them in here would be all that bad either. Again, these people need to have RL ties to current members. So, if you vouch for him and he screws us, well, I guess we deal with BOTH of you. :-)

Heh.

I rate him at Postive myself, so I'll vouch for him. He's a little weird in some ways, but he's good people.

I'll make sure he's clear on us being good guys, though. Just in case.

As to general policy, does that mean anyone that puts in an aplication in-game that no one already knows should be dismissed without further conversation? Not that I expect it to come up anytime soon, but you never know.

As much as we were reviled in UO, we had lots and lots of people who would message us asking how to join.

But with so many enemies, how are we going to trust someone that none of us know, with access to our millions in supplies?

So I dunno.

I'd guess that 90% of the people that wanted to join us in UO were enemies trying to infiltrate. 'Cause that's how many I'd end up seeing fighting against us later on. Of the non-RL people that we ended up letting in, they all (but one) ended up getting bored with our play style (camping for hours at times) and leave for more adventures. They'd eventually want to come back, but we wouldn't let them. There's been one person we let in, but then we didn't really play, so not sure how they would have worked out. Troy is our first convert (assuming he IS converted. . .) and maybe Malcolm. We're not sure with him either. . .

See, we only want the best of the best of the best. And not everyone can handle those expectations. :-)

Your day of retribution shall come,!!

It's gonna happen when I'm driving a titan, and everyone else is in Battleships (3 years from now)

I'm gonna trigger the doomsday device and blow up the whole fleet ;)

In other news, I'm theorizing that in solo agent missions, smartbombs are looking like useful things to weaken many a ship at once, particuarly when I've only got time to jump in, lag, lag, lag, & jump out.

I started brainstorming this whilst getting my ass blown off during techno. secrets pt. III. I'd jump in & immediately get set upon by numerous enemies in a few seconds. In addition, they were all formed up in little squads of 3 or more enemies. I know there's skills to increase a smartbomb's range, so that'd probably help cos the range on the tech I's is 3000m. But, it requires no lock on time. You could jump in, kick in a shield booster or invuln field, AB into a squad, unload a few of these mothers, & warp out. Then again, I was rather annoyed that day, so my theories could be waaaaaaay off.

If lag is giving you problems with your targeting, you could try an auto-targeter. It's not great, but it does help some. That and killing your sound is also a huge lag-reducing move.
