5) Minus Fox's one-off Deadpool success and the Dark Knight stand alone pocket universe, the only company doing shit remotely right is Marvel/Disney.

That chart has to be bullshit. Production for GotG was $170M and it made $770M globally. If you only include domestic money, then it's arguably 2x, in reality it's closer to 4x.

One of my guilty pleasures is cooking shows. Maybe I was a chef in a former life or something, but I enjoy them. Not all, but some. Chopped is ok in spurts. Cutthroat Kitchen is pretty cool. Masterchef is decent. The Taste was an interesting show, but I hated the format. And Hell's Kitchen is fun.

Gordon, you would like Ramsey. He's nothing more than a basic training drill instructor, except in a kitchen. He's literally just beating people down to build them back up. And what does he preach? Standards. Paying attention to the little details. Having pride in your work.

He seriously cannot hide his contempt for people who don't take the job seriously and/or don't treat people's food with respect.

On Hell's Kitchen, he really plays up the DI/TI angle. He's cursing at contestants, calling them names, etc. However, into the later episodes his demeanor changes. He gives the reigns some slack.

On Masterchef, another show he hosts, it's all about home cooks and he's FAR, FAR nicer. He doesn't bring the DI/TI routine and instead acts like a mentor. These folks aren't professionals, so you can see he allows them a lot more slack. I honestly think he respects them more because they're not professionals, yet love food this much. On HK, they're "professionals" fighting for a job so his expectations of their skills and professionalism are much higher.

It's interesting to watch a guy like him, and Robert Irvine on Food Network. Both are hard asses and both get criticism for it. I find it hilarious that they do because to me its obvious that they're simply breaking people of their bad habits and attitudes and molding them back up with discipline.

But what do I know, I was raised in an era where I didn't get a participation trophy just for showing up.
