How in the FUCK do you load in a high-res texture pack.... everyplace that makes them assumes you know what to do with them.

Actually got it up and running pretty fast with that, so cool. Thanks.

Only thing is with Ultimate Doom (1), if you put it on medium difficulty, there are no enemies. Had to bump difficulty to 4/5, which actually isn't too bad. But it looks decent enough, even if the sprites are still 2D. They look nice, but if they turn sideways, bummer.

The bonus is that it also supports other id games, like Heretic and Hexen.

Yep, saw that. Pretty cool. Gonna burn through these then I can revisit Doom 3 and Quake 4... Quake 3 being the multi-only game. Or did they ever make a campaign for it?

Quake 3 = Quake Arena. It was only ever intended to be multiplayer.

Nostalgia.

And there's something to be said for the simplicity of the old games. The new ones are all pretty and stuff, but the more they strive for a realistic experience... weapon kickback, weight limits, reloading, RPG-style skill leveling, and on and on, the more they get away from the core experience.

I'm enjoying replaying these.

Nah I've always thought biplanes were lame even in 8-bit form.

I was a much bigger fan of the tank levels, particularly the ones with bouncing bullets.
